It's an advertising for an digestive called Fenouillet which was invented in 1840 and possessed the same properties as its cousin alcohol, Chartreuse as the poster informed. An old man relaxes on the chair as he satisfyingly inspects the gold coloured liquor in his glass. The poster informs us that Fenouillet received a gold medal at the Paris Expo
