Pillars of Ashoka: Wisdom of the YoreThe pillars of Ashoka are a series of columns dispersed throughout the Indian subcontinent, erected and inscribed with edicts by the Mauryan king Ashoka during his reign in the 3rd century BC. All the pillars were placed at Buddhist monasteries, many important sites from the life of the Buddha and places of pilgrimage.
