Bald CypressNative to the American Southeast, bald cypress is tough and hardy and adapts well to any soil dry or wet, even swampy! Soft green needles cover trees in warm months, then turn russet red in fall before dropping for winter. In ordinary garden soil, trees are deep rooted, but in wet to swampy soil, trees develop "knees" in order for roots to take in oxygen and thrive even underwater!
